Wine Basics 1: $120/hr.
An introduction to the most widely planted white and red wines, this conversation will cover 6-8 wines from prominent regions, and explore their flavors and aromas. We will cover some of the differences between Old World and New World wine making, as well as basic cellar techniques, which explain certain flavor profiles. For example, we would pour Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, and Riesling, and follow that with Pinot Noir, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Zinfandel. With each wine, we will establish flavor profiles that describe what we actually have in the glass, and compare that with "classic" profiles that describe what each grape is supposed to taste like. We will talk about differences.
